Placenta Services
Consuming the placenta has numerous benefits, including increased energy, increased milk supply, leveling out hormones, increased iron, emotional support, and much more! It can make such a difference during the postpartum period.
That may sound TOTALLY GROSS to you, but thankfully there is a great way to go forward with this without any of the yuck. Enter: encapsulation! It won’t look or taste anything like the organ that came out of your body, and you will still get all the benefits.
In order for everyone and everything to stay as safe as possible, I will come to your home to process your placenta. I am thoroughly trained in proper placenta and equipment handling, and bring all of my own supplies.

Placenta Encapsulation
Placenta encapsulation is the process where I take your placenta and turn it into easy to swallow capsules, using the Traditional Chinese Method. It is a two day process (a little over an hour each day). The first day, I will steam, slice, and leave your placenta dehydrating at your house overnight. The second day I will finish encapsulation (using vegetarian capsules), and leave you with a thoroughly cleaned and sanitized space, a jar of placenta capsules with instructions, and a cord keepsake for you. Each placenta makes approximately 60-120 capsules.

Encapsulation - $300*

Transportation of placenta from place of birth to your home - $50 (waived for Summit Birth doula clients)
Additional nominal travel fee if your home is more than 30 miles from mine.
Contraindications - If you have HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or signs of infection during labor, I cannot process your placenta.
